We collect information in the following ways:
- Information you provide directly. This includes your name, email address, and the content of any message you submit through our contact form, subscribe form, or any other correspondence you send us.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal information (such as government identification numbers, health records, or financial account details) through the Site, and we ask that you not include such information in any message you send us.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content;
- Respond to questions, comments, and requests submitted through our contact form;
- Send email updates and newsletters to individuals who have opted in to receive them, and allow recipients to unsubscribe at any time;
- Monitor and analyze usage trends, traffic patterns, and site performance so we can plan future content;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions, unauthorized access, and other illegal or policy-violating activity;
- Comply with applicable legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR: (a) your consent, such as when you opt in to receive email updates or accept non-essential cookies; (b) our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Site, provided those interests are not overridden by your data protection rights; (c) performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to respond to a request you have made; and (d) compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help websites function and collect information. We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies, which are required for core site functionality (such as remembering your cookie preferences) and cannot be switched off in our systems.
- Analytics and performance cookies, which help us understand how visitors interact with the Site so we can improve it.
- Functionality cookies, set by plugins such as Jetpack to support features like the contact form and optional email subscriptions.
- Advertising cookies, described in the Advertising and Analytics section below, which are used by our advertising partners to deliver and measure ads.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Site.
Advertising and Analytics
We use third-party advertising and analytics providers, including Google, to display ads and measure Site performance. These providers may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may interest you.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You may also opt out of some third-party advertising cookies through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out page or the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out page.
- Opting out of a particular advertising network does not mean you will no longer see ads; it means the network you opted out of will no longer deliver ads tailored to your interests.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of third-party service providers to operate the Site, including:
- Jetpack (Automattic, Inc.) for site security, performance monitoring, contact forms, and optional email subscriptions.
- Akismet (Automattic, Inc.) for spam filtering on submitted forms.
- Wordfence for site security monitoring.
- Google AdSense and related Google advertising and analytics products, for displaying advertisements that support free access to our content.
Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy and terms, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the data practices of independent third parties.
How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances: with service providers who perform functions on our behalf (such as the third parties listed above), each bound by their own confidentiality and data protection obligations; to comply with a legal obligation, such as a subpoena, court order, or similar legal process; to protect the rights, property, or safety of TheInsuranceMag.com, our users, or the public; or in connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which personal information may be transferred as a business asset, subject to standard confidentiality arrangements.
Data Retention
We retain contact form submissions and subscriber information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, maintain our mailing list, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Server log data collected automatically is generally retained for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes and is not used to individually identify visitors. You may request deletion of your information at any time using the contact details below.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect, including security monitoring provided by Wordfence and secure hosting infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information you transmit to us.
International Data Transfers
Our Site is hosted in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws different from those of your country of residence. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
Your Privacy Rights
You can unsubscribe from our email updates at any time using the link included in every email we send, or by visiting our Unsubscribe page. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate or incomplete information; delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions; restrict or object to certain processing of your information; and data portability, where applicable. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below. We will respond to verifiable requests within the time required by applicable law.
Additional Rights for California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you specific rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To submit a request under the CCPA/CPRA, contact us using the information below.
Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is not yet an accepted industry standard for how to respond to DNT signals, our Site does not currently respond differently based on a detected DNT signal. You can still manage tracking preferences using the cookie and advertising opt-out tools described above.
Children’s Privacy
This Site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
